Downtown Brickville - (BTT) Holding down an important spot on the river, this Bank Complex is a shining example of the International style. While this site tends to skew towards the traditional and the ornate, like a raccoon fixated on a shiny object, make no mistake - a simple, clean, wonderfully proportioned Modernist building is just as compelling.

Waterfront Wander

Historic District - (BTT) All too often we focus on stunning buildings while failing to note their importance on the urban landscape, so it is a welcome sight to see the larger context now and again. An historic castle provides a grand backdrop to this promenade, complete with a park, cafe, a bank, and a townhouse - each impressive in their own right. Feel free to take the stairs down to the water, but do watch your step (and please, no diving). 

Cast Iron Corner

Business District- (BTT) While this building may not have as many precise details as an official Modular set, it sure makes up for it in overall appeal. Somehow, the dark red, and two shades of tan, with black highlights seem to give this building a highly desirable character. It has a very unique facade, using bricks that appear to be plates and tiles snotted together, and with and interesting, angular bay window corner. Not only does it look good alone, it matches exquisitely with the existing modulars, and a suitable replacement for a certain Cafe.

Orange Crush

Bayveiw Boulevard- (BTT) Colour can make or break a building. If it has too much grey, it will be easy to mistake as a communist parking garage. But, on the other side, if there's too much colour, then it will look like your building belongs in candy land. This building by Christer Nyberg (Myko) is a great study in colour- the top has bright orange, but it is subtly offset with greys and dark orange. The street also has a lot of personality, with the smug bench sitter and the anxious banker. Just make sure you don't get too distracted by the building and miss your bus!

Financial district- (BTT) These days, banks will do just about anything to draw in customers. Silly slogans, memorable pitch lines, rebrandings. But sometimes, a bank is there. And has been since the last great war, or at least as long as you can remember. This beautiful Art Deco style bank is no exception. From the friendly patrons out front, to the not-so-friendly felon out back, it's crammed full of great detail. Just be careful that your significant other doesn't splurge the money from your loan on some jewelry upstairs.

All That Glitters is Gold

Fortune Lane - (BTT) If you've wondered why the interest rate on your savings account continues to be next to nothing, now you know why - opulence like this does not come cheap! Anything not gilded in gold has been painted in a vibrant Art Deco palette, including the four iconic columns that both figuratively and literally are holding the weight of the world upon them. The interior is no less grand, with sconces that would bankrupt lesser financial institutions.

Financial District - (BTT) Let's face the facts - banks have been getting a lot of bad press lately, and not without reason. With all the new fees suddenly being introduced, more than some of us would like nothing more than to get our hard earned money back in our own pockets. While I am certainly not condoning the actions of those individuals using this stately bank's skylight to go and do just that, it does seem like a more effective alternative to spending an hour on hold with customer service only to plead a losing case. 

We Don't Offer Bad Loans

Downtown, United States - (BTT) After the banking crisis of 2008 and 2009, one bank saw the opportunity to grow. Basing their image off the "honest" past, Neoclassical National Bank is growing at rates unseen in this decade. Already employing dozens of workers, the bank is planning to expand to other downtowns across the United States. Furthermore, each bank will house a state-of-the-art safe which will be used to store and protect your extremely popular gold from thieves (i.e. the other banks.)

My 1893 Block featuring a bank, door factory, and theater hall. This building has been done for the better part of two weeks. Last weekend, I attempted taking pictures, but the lighting was terrible. So, this morning I adjusted the exposure level on my camera, which appeared to work quite well.
