Basic Brilliance

Courtesy City Residential Pack #3 by Brick City Depot
London, Britain- (BTT) If it ain't broken, don't fix it. A classical adage that came from who knows where, but still as prevalent today as when it was first uttered. Modular (or terraced) housing and buildings follow this quite well: build an attractive building, build another, paint it a different color, rinse and repeat. But, just because they're similar doesn't make these buildings any less unique. A great example of how one doesn't need a vast palette of colors to create a great MOC or Modular Building. Let this example inspire you, and get building!

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

Courtesy French Mansion by castor-troy

Nice, France- (BTT) Living in the lap of luxury is hard work. There's the constant presence of beautiful sunsets, that gleaming architecture, and too many choices of amenities. But, if you can handle the rough-and-tumble lifestyle of the rich and famous, then you can live in a beautiful hose like this. While this MOC by Castor-troy is technically still a WIP, it shines with beauty, like a lighthouse on a stormy sea. There are no shots of the interior yet, but based on his other creations, it'll be great. The tan brickwork is especially great when representing French architecture, and the building has many great shapes working together to make a highly unique corner building.

New Kids on the Block

Container House

Minimalist Lane- (BTT) Often, what we associate as 'modern architecture' is really done in a minimalist deign style. Using boxy shapes and unique arrangements of prefabricate pieces to try to elicit a unique shape and feel. Not too dissimilar from building with Lego bricks, which is why this MOC is such a striking example of what can be achieved. Using only basic Lego colours, and nothing more complex, Puriri deVry has created a hyper-realistic (if not hyper-common) representation of a type of building we are seeing more and more of these days.

What's Tomato With You

Tomato Street 1

Tomato Street - (BTT) Mother's Day is just around the corner (I'm sure you all remembered on your own), and where better to go to get her a gift than right here - the sign in the front certainly suggests this is the place to go. Appropriately painted in two shades of red with some brilliant tan detailing, what really makes this building iconic is the open-air dome at the top.

Modern Architecture

Vee Building
Courtesy Vee Building by Brickapolis
Indianapolis, Indiana- (BTT) Apartments aren't always blocky, boring, and repetitive. Sometimes, they're freestanding and unique. This fine building falls right into that category. From the "Vee" rooftop, to the glass-encapsulated bottom floor, this has all the traits of a modern city building. Apparently, it's not new enough to escape the touch of modern street art, or as the rest of us know it, graffiti. The large brick built street helps to draw the eye to the building, then it steadily progresses up to the skylight at the top, ending in a pleasing overall view.

Welcome! Come in, be seated!

Overdale- Brick Town Talk

Bonjour!

Hello! I'm not really French, but it's a great way to break the ice! I'm Duncan, and along with Jonathan and Chris, I am the newest author on Brick Town Talk. Some of you may know me from Eurobricks or Flickr as Dakar A. I'm also proud to be a TFOL, or Teen Fan of Lego, for those unfamiliar with the jargon. That means less income to buy parts and pieces from Bricklink, but I try my hardest to best use what I have.

I'm a Town builder by heart, since the first set I remember getting is a Town firetruck. I had my own sort of strange dark ages, where I followed kid hobbies besides Lego, only really getting back in with the Creator Street Speeder and the Green Grocer. And as the story goes, I now have a tiny city taking up a few square feet of my bedroom! Outside of Lego, I play the French Horn, enjoy Ska music,am a Life Scout (5 merit badges away from Eagle!), and am enrolled in the Cambridge AICE program.

I hope to be posting the best the Internet has to offer in Lego buildings on here, as often as possible. Which means more MOCs for you! I'm glad to be an author, and promise not to make anymore posts all about me!

Paint the Town Red

Courtesy Red and Tan House by paostmo
Terrace Row - (BTT) When you live in a townhouse, it can often be hard to express your individuality when your home looks identical to dozens of others on the block. The owners here have found a simple but effective solution - painting the ground level facade a brilliant shade of dark red. The result actually works in harmony with the tan walls above, assuring that they get noticed without upsetting the historic fabric of the neighborhood.

Red and Tan Apartments

Tan Apartment
I've been working on my town lately and thought I should add them here. The brown building is nothing new, only used to supplement my red and tan apartments which were both built in the previous two months or so. Both have interiors, so I hope you enjoy them!

P.S. I apologize for my absence, life has been busy, so that is obviously priority one. :)
