Abbey Road - (BTT) Religion is a touchy subject, as proven with the announcement that the Pope decided he's had enough of wearing pointy hats and riding around in Tupperware cars. Still, regardless of your own personal relationship with the higher power of your choice, it's hard to deny that some of the most important architecture is divinely inspired. This basilica, beautifully topped with striking blue roofs, exemplifies this point as well as any structure.

The West Just Got Settled!

The old-fashioned look is well brought out in this layout. It makes me happy to see a  western-themed model again. Plus, you know it's an awesome model when you see a fence made out of droid legs and arms.

Missionaries From Space

Breaking up the red is quite a tall order, but Kris Kelvin, as usual, pulls if off with perfection. I like how everything sort of has its place in this model. The church really stands out against the green foliage and the awesome stone wall surrounding it.

A Belfry Can Be A Skyscraper

You can see this probably took a small truck load of pieces to complete, but wasn't it worth it? Compare it to the real thing in Bruges, Belgium.  

Convent Columns of Cheese

The columns on this thing are fantastic, not to mention the cheese slopes plastered all over the place. Great design and very well thought out!

Another Church!

The really steep roof is probably my favorite part of this model. It has a very well thought out look and carries across that elegance and style of a real church.Nice job on this one.

Arches and Angles for Angels

Well......he said it was his first church. I don't believe him. This thing is incredible. It has church written all over it! Great job on this one! Check out LegoLord's other models too!

Seaside Church

Everything in this model just screams professional. The gate has a wonderful style to it and I especially like how the church is set at a slight angle to the otherwise parallel surroundings. The retaining wall is a brilliant idea and really complements the diorama quite nicely. Remember to check out the fountain area and the graveyard too!

This church was designed by ktanger. I like the addition of the Series 2 Minifigures. I wonder what the service is about?

The Building Process

I don't know about you, but whenever I build something, it is usually based off something I saw while on a trip or something that's been eating away at my conscious for awhile. For example, after visiting Calumet, in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, I was inspired to build a church. What inspires you to build?

And then there are the problems faced while building. It can start at any moment. Not sure what to build, how to build it, the lack of pieces, or the sudden change in mind. What problems do you face? How do you fix them?

I would just like to hear your thoughts and comments on the matter.

Church

I finally finished up my church yesterday and decided to take some pictures today. It used up practically my entire supply of basic brown bricks (which wasn't a lot in the first place), but I think it was worth it. There's no picture of the interior, as it's pretty bland, but I hope you all enjoy it! 

At some point, I need to get a photo of all my buildings together....

The Akos Town

You know Akos and his amazing old school buildings and layout. But his city is not over yet, it's always in progress so see these new little and cool details that will certainly make his town look a whole lot more alive!

Love all the details in the square, and those trees - NICE.

Words from the creator: "When I built this square, I did not have access to my houses as they are stored elsewhere. By now I have some confidence in my building skills but I can't be sure that I used the right proportions until I have actually seen the whole thing as a unit. I'm already concerned about the trees, I think they will look too small. They should be at least twice as big. And I already spent a fortune on those plant leaves pieces. We'll have an event in March so I don't have to wait too much before I'll have the space and occasion to set the whole thing up. There will be a lot more minifigs and some vehicles on the dio as well. Anyways, let us all keep our interest in building in the CC style!"
